Winter Skincare Routine for Dry Skin
Wintertime comes with the holidays, new year's resolutions, and drier skin. The cooler climates have less sun but we still recommend applying SPF during the daytime. Just like how we change our wardrobe because of the weather, our skincare routine changes too. Here are our tips in transitioning into a wintertime skincare routine.
The first step in your wintertime skincare routine is to cleanse skin with a gentle & soothing cleanser. Try hydrating and fragrance-free cream cleansers especially when your skin gets drier during these months. Also, stick to cleansing your skin 1 or at most, 2 times a day to prevent irritation or compromising your skin barrier.
Exfoliate to remove the dry, outermost layer of your skin with acid exfoliants or gentle, physical scrubs. This step in your routine helps get rid of dull skin and encourages new cell turnover. Since it’s a darker season, it’s safe to amp up the acids like glycolic or lactic acid. Don’t forget to still apply your sunscreen!
Hydrate your body and skin by drinking at least 8 glasses of water and use a lightweight moisturizer. Look for active ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and ceramides.
Oils are also a great way to lock in the moisture during cooler months as they consist of essential fatty acids. It’s best to apply a light layer of your favorite facial oil then use ArteStile’s rose quartz face roller to drain your lymphatic system and diminish puffiness.
Definitely use lip balm - nothing is worse than the feeling of chapped lips. Winter calls for matte lip colors and it’s best applied on moisturized lips.
